The pots and spoons are both designed to be volumetrically proportional. For example, the volume of pot #1 plus the volume of pot #2 equals the volume of pot #3. The spoons are the same. Use this feature to visually demonstrate basic math concepts, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
The pots and spoons are designed to interact with Measure Up!® Cups to enhance measurement and size discoveries. The Pots are larger and the Spoons are smaller. The volume of #1 Pot equals the volume of #10 Cup. The volume of #10 Spoon = volume of #1 Cup.
Focus on different number associations on the pots: numerals stamped inside pots; number of dots inside pots; number of different shapes on handles.
Associating a number with size reinforces the notion of sequential progression and allows for the exploration of math operations.
Identify the 5 different shapes on the pot handles.
Stack the pots to learn about size and relationships, an introduction to measurement. The #1-9 Measure Up!® Cups can be stacked on top of the #1 Pot for an even taller tower.
Scoop, fill and pour with water, sand, rice or small safe objects.
Teach object permanence by revealing hidden objects under the pots.
Encourage tactile learning by identifying the number on a pot by touch alone, inside the pot on the bottom.
Identify the different food items on the bottom of the pots. Learn that the food items represent different food groups.
Stamp the food designs into dough or wet sand.
Use dough or wet sand to mold lady bugs in the spoons. The molded lady bugs have a number of dots corresponding to the number on the spoon. This helps to reinforce the notion of size relativity.
Use the spoons to explore balance and center of gravity by balancing each spoon on your finger.
