Play is essential for children’s healthy development and learning.   Children use play to try out new ideas, actively construct knowledge, learn new skills and grow socially and emotionally. Through creative play, a child lays the foundation for later academic learning.  

I firmly believe that play is a child’s work.   To find these beautiful, durable and kid-powered items was very encouraging to me.  

I have been involved with Discovery Toys on and off for the last 38 years.   I recently rejoined as a consultant, because my daughter married a man with two sons – grandson #1 and grandson #2.   My daughter gave birth to grandson #3.   What a blessing for me those three gentlemen are.  

After finding a Discovery Toys book entitled The Amazing Story of Noah’s Ark , I researched Discovery Toys and found the toys, games and books better than before.   So, I joined as a consultant.   All my “toy testers” have the toys enjoyable, but a few a special.   Grandson #3 enjoys Try-Angle the most, Grandson #2 makes complex structures with Connectix and even at the age of 17, Grandson #1 is an avid Tension Fan, Kids vs Adults.

I remember playing games as a child with my three sisters, but the most fun was went Mom, Dad or Aunt Florence joined us.   What a special time.

I am spending as much time as possible with my three, helping them to grow and mature.   These game times sometimes open the way to many interesting conversations.   It’s a relaxed time and the boys seem to open up.

Together we can change the world one child at a time.
